Bike Repair Stations

There are three bike repair stations with a variety of basic bike mechanic tools available on a 24/7 basis. These can be found at:

• Between the Puaka/James Hight building and North Arts lecture theatre
• Matariki bike听parks
• Beatrice Tinsley bike parks

Cycle parks

UC offers different types of bike parking around campus: secure, covered and open-air.

Secure stands are electronically accessed, video-surveillance monitored bike parks. Simply swipe your Canterbury Card to get access.听Please make sure that you still lock your bike.听Secure bike stands can be found at:

• Engineering (Creyke Road)
• Behind Central Lecture theatres听
• Meremere (Law)

Air pumps

A manual air pump with pressure guage is located in each of the secure cycle stands.

Engineering secure stand also has an air compressor pump.

If you find that one of the air pumps is broken, please report this to the听UC Sustainability Office.

Locking your Bike

We recommend investing in a thick chain lock or a D-lock, as the cheap, flexible cable locks can be easily cut in seconds. We also suggest registering your bike on the听, which helps Police return stolen bikes to their rightful owners.

It is important to still lock your bike even when using the secure bike stands on campus.

Puncture repair kits

Tyre levers and puncture repair patches and glue can be borrowed from the Security Office (114 Ilam Road). Leave your Canterbury Card as deposit.

Showers

Some showers on campus are available for cyclists travelling a long distance. Check out听UC's interactive campus map听for an updated location of showers.

Lockers

Available on a first padlock in, first served basis.听

Lockers are also available in Law and Engineering buildings.

Cycleways

Cyclists can use both the campus roads and pedestrian paths, but please always be considerate of other path/road users. If you are biking between the University's Ilam and Dovedale sites, the Uni-Cycle is a shared cycle/walk way that links Waimairi and Ilam Roads via Ilam Fields.

Opened in 2017, the Uni-Cycle |Puari ki P奴-taringa-motu |is a 5.6km route connecting UC to the central city via Ilam Fields, Riccarton Bush and Hagley Park. This route also connects with two other Major Cycle Routes 鈥� Te Ara O-Rakipaoa听| Nor鈥橶est Arc cycleway at Ilam Road and Puari ki P奴-harakeke-nui | Northern Line Cycleway at Mona Vale.
